The Annie E. Casey Foundation is a private charitable organization dedicated to helping build better futures for disadvantaged children in the United States. The primary mission of the Foundation is to foster public policies, human service reforms, and community supports that more effectively meet the needs of today’s vulnerable children and families. The Foundation distributes approximately $150 million annually in grants to organizations that help states, cities, and neighborhoods improve the life outcomes of these children and families.
Job Summary:
The Foundation seeks an experienced Senior Associate to inform and advance the Foundation’s place-based strategy for achieving results for children and families in Baltimore. This position involves strategic leadership both within the Foundation’s growing efforts in Baltimore, specifically, as well as across the Foundation as a whole. The role requires expertise in ensuring that philanthropic resources are well allocated and managed, knowledge of methods for improving economic success through workforce development and education opportunities, and a commitment to improving the lives of Baltimore children and families. Unit Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Baltimore Civic Site
The Senior Associate will manage and inform the strategy of the Foundation’s place-based education and family economic success (FES) work in Baltimore:

Shape an integrated and unified approach to the Foundation’s multiple current and developing efforts in Baltimore; ensure the efforts are in accordance with Results-Based Accountability principles.

Support the implementation and integration of a two-generation approach and strategy within the Foundation’s place-based work in Baltimore.

Support the Foundation’s place-based education work in Baltimore.
-
Support the Foundation’s place-based family economic success work in Baltimore.
-
Collaborate with other units within the Foundation’s Center for Community and Economic Opportunity in current and developing education, economic success and workforce development investments in Baltimore.

Working with City leaders and partners, including the Baltimore funding community, non-profit leaders, government and Baltimore City Public Schools, help advance promising city-wide interests that support Foundation human services priorities as they emerge.

Help develop and support a parent and resident engagement strategy in support of the Foundation’s place based strategies.

Manage execution and alignment of grants, and serve as liaison with grantees, within an assigned portfolio.

Analyze and use data as measures of results-based accountability and to inform practices.

Collaborate with research and evaluation colleagues to establish protocols and a data dashboard to effectively measure the impact of Baltimore Civic Site activities.

Stay current on best practices, innovations, and the state of the field to inform Baltimore Civic Site investments and priorities.

Act as a steward of the Foundation’s work by serving on key committees and Boards to advance Baltimore Civic Site interests or to inform its work going forward.

Qualifications:
-
Advanced degree in education, public administration, workforce development, policy, or a related field preferred.
-
Familiarity and experience working with Baltimore City stakeholders, including government, providers, anchor institutions, non-profits, Baltimore City Public Schools, other institutional partners, and diverse populations and institutions preferred.
-
At least seven years of experience, including at least three years of successful managerial experience in early childhood programs, public schools, workforce development, and/or nonprofit organizations.

Experience in strategic and tactical planning on behalf of an organization.
-
Experience in self-managed, task-driven initiatives with the ability to balance the demands related to multiple projects and for multiple deadlines simultaneously.

Experience and knowledge with evidence-based practice (EBP) concepts and practice.
-
Previous community-driven work and the ability to relate to and influence a variety of external partners, including civic leaders, community organizations, elected and appointed politicians, youth and parents.

Knowledge of, and successful experience in, urban communities.
-
Knowledge of public systems in education and/or workforce development and the public policies that govern them.
-
Familiarity with results-based accountability a plus.
Compensation:
This is an exempt position, meaning pay is on a salaried rather than hourly or daily basis. Starting salary is commensurate with experience and earnings history. A strong benefits package will be provided as well. Application Instructions
