Faculty Position: Assistant Professor, Tenure-Track, in International and Comparative Education

Position: Teachers College, Columbia University is seeking a tenure track Assistant Professor of International and Comparative Education to engage in research, teach and advise graduate students in its Programs in Comparative and International Education and International Educational Development.

Responsibilities: Develop and maintain a significant program of research and publication. Teaching responsibilities include graduate level courses in international educational development and comparative and international education. Academic advisement responsibilities include working with both masters and doctoral students on thesis projects and dissertations.

Qualifications: Applicants must have an earned doctorate in international and comparative education or related discipline. Applicants must show evidence of or demonstrated potential for research and scholarship in international development, international humanitarian issues, education in emergencies, and/or international policy studies. Applicants with research experience in Africa, a priority area for the program and for the College, will be given preference; other professional experience in international education development will also be considered. In addition, applicants should show evidence of professional and project experience in developing countries and demonstrate strength in research methods. Finally, successful candidates will show evidence of exemplary teaching and advisement skills.

The appointment is expected to begin in September 2013. Review of applications will begin October 15, 2012 and continue until the search is completed.
