President and Chief Executive Officer

The United Way of Champaign County is actively recruiting an executive leader to oversee all operational aspects of the organization. Specifically, this leader will be charged with the development and implementation of a strategic fundraising campaign, oversight of fiscal and financial affairs, staff management, resource allocation and the cultivation of agency partners as well as business and civic leaders.

United Way of Champaign County (UWCC) is the local affiliation of the National Organization and is charged with bringing people and resources together to create a positive change and lasting impact for the community. While partnering with human services agencies, UWCC assists with the administration of over 67 programs generating investment in local areas of need including: community basics, education, health & well-being and financial stability.

The President and CEO is responsible for administrative and financial oversight of the organization and will provide leadership and tactical guidance to guarantee successful fundraising efforts through the development of a systematic fundraising plan. This position is responsible for board development and education, volunteer cultivation as well as the development and implantation of a short and long term strategic plan. In addition, the President and CEO is responsible for providing management, direction and operational strategy to the staff as well as organizational support to agency partners.

The President and CEO will fill a central role in the development of community programs and partnerships. This position will be dedicated to the efficient delivery of quality service while contributing to community enhancement, communication and consensus building. The President and CEO reports directly to the UWCC Board of Directors and will work with the supporting staff and a large volunteer base.

The UWCC is seeking a dynamic, visible and community minded leader with a proven track record of fundraising as well as key administrative responsibilities within public service, stewardship and not-for-profit organizations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in areas of strategic planning, charitable best practices and fund development. This leader must be a high-capacity professional who is both detail-oriented and exceptional at building relationships. The ability to recognize, embrace and support community needs through assessment and consensus building is crucial. An advanced degree and/or industry certification (MBA, CFRP, etc.) is desirable. Salary and benefits are competitive and will be commensurate with experience.

Administratively headquartered in downtown Champaign, IL, the UWCC is centrally located within Champaign County’s 200,000 person service population that boasts a Big Ten college campus, strong cultural arts and sports presence and a well diversified economic base.
