Grants and Development Assistant, Rose Foundation for Communities & the Environment
The Grants and Development Assistant helps with the logistics of raising funds and awarding grants. Primary supervision is by the Executive Director and the Development Coordinator. This is a new position due to organizational growth.
Grants Assistant Overview:
The Assistant processes applicant inquiries, reviews grant applications, conducts follow-up due diligence, and helps funding boards discuss proposals and make grant recommendations. The Assistant also helps track grantee accomplishments, and prepares reports.

Maintain the master grant cycles calendar of submittal deadlines and funding board meetings;

Maintain the notice lists for environmental and consumer protection grants funds, and send out notices via email (Vertical Response) or hard copy format;

Generally help conduct grant proposal cycles including respond to applicant inquiries, organize and log-in inquiries and proposals, acknowledge application receipt, check for eligibility and required information, request additional information as needed, notify applicants of funding decisions, remind grantees about reports due, and help prepare standard and customized reports for internal use and outside circulation;

Help maintain the website, especially the sections related to grants funds and upcoming grants cycles;

Take notes at funding board meetings, and help with food and materials preparation.
Development Assistant Overview:
The Assistant helps with the logistics of mailings, house parties and events. In 2013, there will be an emphasis on events and other activities related to the Rose Foundation’s 20th Anniversary.

Maintain development files and photo library, assist with research on prospective donors including individuals and foundations, assist with donor mailings and acknowledgements, and assist with compiling information for reports and proposals to funders;

Provide support for donor events, including house parties and the 20th Anniversary event and silent auction. Help solicit silent auction donations and in-kind donations, create and disseminate event communications both online and through community locations, and respond to donation and event inquiries.
Qualifications:
Highly organized, with strong computer skills and previous office experience. BA strongly preferred. Previous experience with grantmaking or event planning, email and social media marketing preferred. Bi-lingual Spanish and experience with environmental or social justice nonprofits a plus.
Compensation:
Commensurate with experience; includes full health, dental, vision and 401(k).
