PETA - Research Associate
To provide research support for investigations into animal-exploitative industries
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Research and interpret a variety of animal protection issues in order to further investigations
- Work cases from beginning to end:
- Review investigators' log notes
- View and transcribe videos, and select scenes for use in video edits
- Log undercover photos
- Draft complaints
- Perform a variety of tasks to prepare for the public release of investigations
- Work with the PETA Foundation’s Legal Department to assess evidence for violations of laws and regulations
- Analyze technical papers, and translate industry terminology into lay terms (or find experts to do so)
- Maintain strict confidentiality at all times
- Conduct media interviews
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Requirements:
- Degree in a related field
- Minimum of three years of relevant experience
- Proven ability to conduct in-depth research
- Proven exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Proven excellent editing skills
- Demonstrated ability to make sound, independent judgments
- Proven excellent organizational skills and ability to handle many issues simultaneously
- Thorough knowledge of animal rights issues and PETA campaigns
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times
- Professional appearance and adherence to a healthy vegan lifestyle
- Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid U.S. drivers' license, a minimum of three years of driving experience, and a satisfactory driving record
- Support for PETA’s philosophy and ability to professionally advocate PETA’s position on issues
- Commitment to the objectives of the organization
