Summary:
As part of a Division-wide team, this Senior Corporate and Foundation Associate provides support for the corporate fundraising activities of the Senior Officer, as well as manages his/her own portfolio of corporate and foundation partners. The Senior Associate assists in implementing and managing specific projects that support corporate and foundation fundraising initiatives in the Division. This includes providing administrative and strategic support for Red Cross relationships with Fortune 500 companies and top foundations to meet annual fundraising goals within their Division. As part of their own portfolio management, the Senior Associate cultivates, solicits and stewards support from companies and foundations to meet annual fundraising goals within their Division. This role includes developing cultivation and solicitation strategies, creating proposals for funding priorities, coordinating activities with other Development units and with Division Five chapters to maximiz
e gift potential.
Responsibilities:
Supports the fundraising team in various aspects of corporate fundraising including creating proposals and presentations for partnership opportunities and new business development, handling contract negotiations for cause marketing partnerships, coordinating program execution with Red Cross stakeholders (chapters and other departments) and acknowledging and stewarding donors. Responsible for annual fundraising goal for the current fiscal year as specified in performance standards, including both renewable gifts and new incremental revenue. Prepares solicitation material and reports for corporate and foundation prospects. Works collaboratively with other departments and partners with development staff at the National Office, including as liaison to Program Office, to create customized solicitation strategies matching the objectives of the organization and interests of the donor/prospect. Analyzes and conducts prospect research through all available vehicles (i.e. internet, pr
imary source books, files, etc.). Reviews and makes recommendations for unsolicited partnership proposals. Promotes national and regional corporate and foundation partnerships to chapters to ensure maximum participation and benefit. Participates in disaster relief fundraising projects as appropriate. Ensures that all fundraising activity, pending and completed, are correctly recorded in appropriate electronic and hardcopy formats, maintaining records and updates before and after each action. Monitors forecasting and activities leading to upcoming solicitations. Updates donor records in chapter database and Salesforce.com following donor contacts. Personally solicits assigned donor portfolio, including preparation of personalized materials when needed.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Communications, Marketing, English, Business, Organizational Development or a relevant field. A minimum of three years experience with demonstrated success in a broad range of development activities. General knowledge of corporate fundraising principles and techniques at a large organization. Experience executing corporate contracts is desirable. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong presentation, negotiation and liaison skills are required. Spoken ability in Spanish is helpful. Ability to deal effectively and persuasively with management and staff. Ability to perform under pressure in a rapidly changing and multidimensional environment is essential. Demonstrated tact and diplomacy in difficult or sensitive situations. Strong interpersonal and team-building skills. Evidence of customer service orientation. Knowledge of Microsoft Office is necessary and experience with a donor management system
(like Raiser's Edge/Sales Force) is highly preferred. Operational flexibility to meet sudden and unpredictable business needs, willingness to work outside standard established business hours, and a moderate amount (25%) of business travel are required.
