SUMMARY:
We are seeking an exceptional leader with strong organizational and management skills and knowledge of the New York City (NYC) public school system. The Supplemental Educational Services (SES) Director of Programs will be responsible for a multi-million dollar citywide after-school program throughout NYC, serving dozens of schools and thousands of students. The Director should be a strong leader and team-builder working collaboratively with principals, teachers, parents, and program management, along with all internal departments impacting our program.
Primary Responsibilities:

Ensure program compliance with city, state, and federal guidelines in support of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) SES Program. This includes but is not limited to the engagement of students, orientation with parents, pre-testing, development of Student Education Plans, roster building, student retention, progress reporting, and post-testing;

Supervise and provide strategic leadership to front line managers in the daily operation of site management, holding ultimate accountability for organization’s scholar enrollment goals and attendance percentages;

Connect with and assist principals by providing programs in support of their mission to improve student achievement and performance;

Organize and implement the design and delivery of professional staff development for supervisors and teaching staff;

Supervise and support Education Specialists in the motivating of teachers to excel during extended school-day hours and in the creation of individualized school-based instructional programs for Literacy and Math that serve targeted pupils in SINI schools;

Be knowledgeable of NY educational standards, including measurable objectives and assessment tools;

Develop successful marketing plans and strategies;

Establish positive working relationships with principals, school district administrators, school staff, and colleagues regarding instruction, staffing, budgetary concerns, human resources (HR), and data collection;

Monitor the timely delivery of all required documentation to satisfy agency policies and procedures, including but not limited to HR documents, personnel eligibility, daily program attendance, Student Education Plans, Progress Reports, and timesheets.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:

Master’s degree in Education, Business Administration, or related strongly preferred;

Demonstrated success in prior management of performance-based contracts, having achieved top results;

Prior experience and ability to successfully develop effective working relationships with senior administrators and partners within a large urban school system;

Prior teaching experience preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-
Must demonstrate ability to successfully manage competing priorities and meet required deadlines;

Must pass pre-employment background investigation including but not limited to employment history and criminal background check;

Car required for transportation to schools throughout the five boroughs / Westchester County;

Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with proven ability to interact with a diverse range of individuals, applying tact and discretion as situations demand;

Must have excellent organizational, time management and follow-up skills;

Ability to effectively delegate and empower others;
-
Must be able to clearly articulate outcome requirements and provide the necessary and appropriate resources and support for Teachers, Tutors and Managers to successfully deliver on objectives;

Ability to mediate conflicts and negotiate solutions;
-
Ability to demonstrate superior analytical and presentation skills on program outcomes and evaluations;

Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
