The YMCA of Greater New York is the largest youth-service organization in NYC. The organization has grown to encompass 21 branches and more than 140 sites throughout the five boroughs of New York City in addition to three camp sites and an upstate conference center.
The West Side YMCA is seeking an experienced individual who will provide leadership to the OST After School program. The Site Director will be responsible for maintaining the staffing and scheduling of the after school programs, plan and organize structured programs consisting of educational and recreational activities according to age group, supervise staff and maintain a high level of communication between school representatives and participants.
Responsibilities:

Responsible for the overall day to day operations and supervision of the OST programs as well as the Summer Camp component.

Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate program staff and volunteers.

Promote literacy, multiculturalism, parent and community involvement through appropriate program enhancements and activities.

Ensure that adequate supplies and equipment are kept safe and are available to operate a successful program.

Evaluate and document staff performance informally and formally during the program year.

Facilitate and/or supervise the collection of data for YMCA and Department of Youth & Community Development evaluation; assemble the data and arrange for timely delivery.

Serve as liaison with school personnel, specifically the principal and his/her designee.

Provide leadership to Parent Advisory and Youth Advisory Groups.

Attend school planning and PTA meetings.

Develop community relations with other community organizations or programs.

Manage data entry (OST database, AS400).

Maintain Department of Health license for program operation and summer camp.

Maintain accurate records pertaining to licensing requirements and staff/child health and safety.

Supervise and plan summer components as assigned.

Actively participate in all training sessions, designated meetings and special events.
Qualifications:

BA/BS in Education or related field.

Minimum of two years of experience supervising, planning, and implementing educational programs specific with an elementary school population.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office.
