Missouri Energy Initiative - Grants Coordinator
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB: The Grants Coordinator will work in conjunction with the Board of Directors and Executive Director to oversee agency research/write grants for the financial support of MEI and support organizational communications and event management activities. Candidates should have excellent writing and computer skills and must be highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
PERSONALITY SOUGHT: MEI seeks an energetic, adaptive and experienced take charge professional with ability to manage administration and logistics in small but growing non-profit public policy organization.
The primary duties of the Grants Coordinator are:
Fundraising

Research and identify potential sources of foundation and corporate grants, governmental funding, and special event sponsorships.

Works closely with staff and partners in developing and transforming ideas into grant proposals; interacts with stakeholder constituencies involved in grant-funding activities; serves as organizations liaison to University grants administration.

Schedule and prepare for prospect and foundation site visits.

Write all proposals and produce all funding reports according to prescribed guidelines and deadlines.

Maintain grants database including approved, pending, and declined list.

Participate in the budgeting process and be accountable for assigned revenue goals.

Work closely with program staff and evaluation staff to identify outcomes and other important program information.

Create reports for the Board of Directors, committees, and staff.

Work cooperatively with Executive Director to meet the goals of the annual fundraising plan.

Maintain Grants database and outreach via Salesforce (similar to Raiser's Edge).
Communications
-
Develop press releases, editorials, and other media-related information.

Work with other staff and outside consultants to develop marketing materials, including program flyers, the agency brochure, and the annual report.

Support creation and implementation of social media strategies for the agency.

Support webpage maintenance—ensure information provided is consistent with development activities.
Event Management

Support the organization and implementation of Annual Midwest Energy Policy Conference, Annual Call for Papers Conference, Advanced Energy Solutions Symposiums and other meetings as required.
Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
-
An Associate’s degree.
-
Two years’ experience in a non-profit or association environment, preferably with an energy-related background.

Development and/or grant writing experience highly required with proven track record in grant writing, proposal success, grant management, and communications.

Excellent writing and editing skills; strong oral communication skills.

Great attention to detail and ability to stay organized and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

High level of comfort proficiency with technology, specifically Microsoft Office, Google apps, Salesforce, Web CMS (joomla) etc.

An ability to “change gears” and work collaboratively with internal staff and external partners.
-
An ability to find and stay informed about projects and resources for partners.
-
Experience and comfort working in stressful, but rewarding situations.

A passionate and committed belief to factual, scientific and unbiased communication.
-
Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, stakeholders and program participants.

Understanding of Energy issues.
WORK SCHEDULE: This is a full time position with demanding goals, which sometimes requires long hours, and flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends.
