Grants Specialist

National Able Network - Grants Specialist
Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Development, this position will play a key role in all aspects of fundraising and marketing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work collaboratively with Executive Team members and program managers to identify and research government, public, and private funding opportunities to support existing and future programs/projects.
- Assemble and write grant proposals, including collecting and compiling information from staff and publically available data sources
- Cultivate relationships with funders and stakeholders through a range of internal and external communications
- Publish quarterly newsletters, including writing articles and assisting with copy editing, layout, and design
- Develop and implement social media communications strategies; monitor social, print, and online media for news and information regarding National Able Network
- Prepare and distribute press releases, media alerts, informational reports for funders, and other communications; coordinate media opportunities, press conferences, site visits, etc.
- Write research papers, position papers, and white papers.
- Assist with the design and development of internal and external marketing materials. Coordinate with contractors/vendors as needed in the production of collateral marketing materials.
- Assist with fundraising activities, events, and campaigns as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in journalism, communications, marketing, English, or related.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in grant writing, marketing, journalism, or similar. Prior successful experience in grant writing strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with foundation/corporate solicitations, government funding, workforce/employment programs, non-profit setting, or other issues related to services provided by National Able is beneficial.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Strong organization, research, analysis, and interviewing skills.
- Extremely high attention to detail, consistent reliable follow through, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
- High energy, creative self-starter who will take initiative and work independently to achieve results, but can also collaborate and contribute positively to team efforts.
- Strong service-orientation and interpersonal abilities to work effectively with diverse populations of funders, community partners, government agencies, Nation Able staff, and clients. Bilingual skills (Spanish) desirable.
- Strong PC skills and proficiency with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) required. Familiarity with Publisher, SharePoint, Visio, Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver desirable.
- Ability to travel to local Chicago area locations and work occasional weekends and evenings when necessary.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to travel within the Chicagoland area when necessary.
- Must be able to utilize PC and other standard office equipment.
- Must be able to understand and respond to communications.
