The Corporate Partnerships unit at the American Red Cross seeks to form mutually beneficial, long-term partnerships with corporations that can offer reach and revenue to support the Red Cross brand and its organizational priorities. As part of the team, this Officer cultivates, solicits and stewards support from Fortune 500 companies to meet annual corporate fundraising goals. This role includes developing cultivation and solicitation strategies, creating proposals for funding priorities, and coordinating activities with other Development units and with chapters to maximize gift potential. The Officer also serves as the point-of-contact for assigned donors to help grow their fundraising objectives and relationship with the Red Cross.
Manages a portfolio of corporate prospects, develops fundraising strategies for assignments and takes primary responsibility for fulfillment and stewardship. Creates customized proposals to meet both donor intention and organizational needs. Cooperates with chapters to take initiative in developing targeted approaches and to build chapter capacity for corporate giving. Sets metrics and prepares reports relevant to progress, impact and stewardship. Liaises with other Development units and Departments, fostering strong working relationships and effective communication. Conducts research and verification of corporations to determine potential donors. May provide corporate giving resources and training to Red Cross field representatives.
A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Communications, Marketing, Business, English, Organizational Development, Psychology, Sales, or a relevant field. A minimum of five years experience with demonstrated success in major gifts, corporate fundraising, marketing, sales, business-to-business sales or communications. Extensive knowledge of fundraising and/or marketing/sales principles/techniques in large organizations. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong interpersonal, negotiation and liaison skills. Must display tact and diplomacy in difficult or sensitive situations. Demonstrated ability to build and execute fundraising plans. Ability to operate independently and deal effectively and persuasively with management and staff. Demonstrated ability to build alliances and gain team consensus. Comfortable working under pressure in a rapidly changing/multidimensional environment is essential. Experience with branch management or affi
liate structure is preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office is necessary and experience with a donor/sales management system (like Raiser’s Edge, Sales Force or Team Approach) is preferred. Operational flexibility to meet sudden and unpredictable business needs, willingness to work outside standard established business hours, and a moderate amount (30%) of business travel are required.
