Center for Court Innovation - Application Developer
The Center for Court Innovation, a project of the Fund for the City of New York, is a unique public-private partnership that promotes new thinking about how courts and criminal justice agencies can aid victims, change the behavior of offenders, and strengthen communities. The Center creates demonstration projects that test new approaches to problems that have resisted conventional solutions.
The Center’s problem-solving courts include the nation’s first community court (Midtown Community Court), as well as drug courts, domestic violence courts, youth courts, mental health courts, and others. Nationally and internationally, the Center performs original research on topics of justice reform and provides consulting services to criminal justice innovators.
The Center is a national leader in developing cutting edge technology for the courts. The Center's technology team works closely with project directors, evaluators and outside partners to develop innovative solutions (client/server, web-based, and telecommunications) for experimental court projects. Our first project, the Court Application at the Midtown Community Court, is considered the nation’s most comprehensive court information system. The application received the top prize for public sector innovation at Windows World Open 1995 and in 1997 was inducted into the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of American History’s Innovation Collection. Center projects also include the Community Justice Centers and projects involving strategies for community justice, domestic violence, drug treatment, and outside links between courts and other public safety related agencies.
