Oak Foundation www.oakfnd.org commits its resources to address issues of global social and environmental concern, particularly those that have a major impact on the lives of the disadvantaged. With offices in Europe, Africa, and North America, Oak Foundation makes grants to organisations located in 41 countries worldwide.
Special Interest (SI) grants usually fall outside the main programmatic areas of the Foundation. They reflect the special interests of the Foundation’s Trustees and are diverse, covering a range of fields including medical, humanitarian relief, education and the arts.
The Foundation is currently recruiting a Program Officer, for the SI Program. This Program Officer will provide the Trustees with strategic advice on Special Interest grants. Based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina (United States), the Program Officer will conduct due diligence process on Special Interest grants in the United States. This will include drafting recommendations for funding, as well as on-going contact, communications, and monitoring of grantee organisations.
The successful candidate will have an advanced university degree and 5 - 10 years experience of working in philanthropy or non-profit sectors. The candidate should have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience in project management and knowledge of the Foundation sector is an advantage.
Excellent analytical, negotiation and communication skills are required for this post as well as management experience. The successful candidate should be fluent in English.
