Organization Summary: Roots of Peace (ROP) is a
humanitarian, not-for-profit organization focused on the removal of land
mines and the restoration of agriculture in former conflict zones.
Position Summary: The Senior Accountant reports to
the Director of Finance in the home office located in San Rafael, CA and
is responsible for the monthly general ledger close, balance sheet and
income statement data. The Senior Accountant is also responsible for our
accounting field teams performance and training.
Essential Job Functions:

Responsible for the
general ledger month-end close and presentation of the balance sheet and
income statement results and analysis;

Responsible for the
preparation of General Ledger and reconciliations for month-end closing
to books in a timely manner;

Assist in documentation
of a monthly account analysis of the balance sheet and income
statement;

Work closely with field
offices and other departments;
-
Assist analyst with
reports, etc.;

Involved with A/P &
A/R functions; cash receipts & petty cash;

Perform miscellaneous
administrative duties as needed.
Education: Bachelor’s degree or
higher in accounting; CPA preferred.
Experience:
- Significant experience
with all accounting functions and related internal controls, including
accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, and inventory;
- Good Knowledge of U.S.
GAAP and FAR rules and regulations;
- Auditing skills, with
the ability to research and resolve accounting applications;
- 2-5 years of high volume
Accounting Experience a plus;
- Experience with
QuickBooks a must, Experience with SAGE MIP Accounting Software a
plus;
- 2-3 years of accounting
work experience in working with USAID, ADB, EC and/or other
international and multi-national donors required;
- Prior experience working
in developing or emerging countries highly desirable.
