Dissent Magazine - Development Intern
Dissent Magazine/Foundation for the Study of Independent Social
Ideas seeks a creative,
passionate fundraising intern to help increase the capacity of
our quarterly magazine,
which is one of the most exciting and provocative journals of
the left.
The Development Intern will work with the Co-Editors, a small
Development
Committee, and the Executive Editor to develop a comprehensive
development plan that
builds support from family foundations, major donors, and a
broad individual donor base.
Responsibilities:
- Work with Development Committee to plan a 60th Anniversary
Celebration in Fall 2013;
- Research current and potential major donors and deadlines for
proposals to foundations;
- Use eTapestry to track donors and increase information in
database;
- Help develop plan to build broad-based individual donor support
network.
Qualifications:
- Experience in the field of development;
- Commitment to the mission of the magazine;
- Excellent organizational and communication skills;
- Familiarity with donor databases and tracking systems;
- Ability to work with small staff and willingness to work within
a small nonprofit
organization;
- Familiarity with digital and social-media-based fundraising
strategies.
Stipend: $20,000 for 10-15 hours of work per week from September 2012
through October
2013. Candidate must be able to work in New York City.
