Philadelphia Museum of Art - Director of Donor Engagement and Communications

The Director of Donor Engagement and Communications provides oversight to an integrated program of donor engagement, stewardship, event and education activities, and strategic communications to prospects and donors, which is designed to help realize the full philanthropic potential of the institution, both in support of annual fundraising priorities and the comprehensive campaign.

The Director of Donor Engagement and Communications will develop and execute a best-in-class donor engagement and communication strategy that produces demonstrated impact on donor commitment and loyalty. He/she will work with PMA leadership, curators, program staff, and donors to provide relevant opportunities for donor interaction with the Museum and the broader art appreciation community. The result will be the development of a comprehensive strategy for donor/prospect programming designed to educate participants about the Museum, its future aspirations and philanthropic needs.

This role will conceive and carry out cultivation and stewardship events on- and off-site, providing leadership for strategic events and donor cultivation and engagement. He/she will execute a comprehensive communication and messaging plan across all Development programs employing annual themes and strategies and ensuring consistency in messaging. This position manages a creative and collaborative team of full-time professionals.

Qualified candidates will possess 10+ years of relevant experience in arts and culture, higher education, corporate, government or not-for-profit communications, marketing, external or public affairs, advancement or the equivalent. Professional fundraising experience including leadership with giving programs and individual donor strategies required. Comprehensive campaign experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to synthesize the requirements of multiple internal partners into cohesive and compelling communications, both in terms of creative impact and key messages. Superior diplomacy and communication skills. Working knowledgeable of RE database with experience developing data queries for analysis.
