JCC Chicago - General Director
The JCC Chicago (JCC) is a 109 years old agency which oversees a system and directs multiple programs at multiple sites serving broad and diverse constituencies throughout Chicago. Built on a strong foundation of Jewish values and with a focused mission of “Bringing Jewish Values to Life,” the JCC offers a wide array of programs reaching 35,000 people of all ages on an annual basis. The JCC currently focuses on four service areas to strengthen Jewish life in Chicago: early childhood services, day and resident camp, and outreach services. In addition, the JCC offers a wide array of sports and fitness activities throughout the community.
JCC is an affiliate agency of and is generously funded by the Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago, the largest not-for-profit institution in Illinois and the central address for Chicago’s Jewish Community. The JCC Chicago General Director (GD) is the chief professional officer of the agency. Reporting to the Board, the GD is responsible for ultimately providing the vision, leadership, strategy and funding necessary to achieve the goals and fulfill the mission of the JCC. The GD, working closely with a talented and experienced staff, will be charged with driving programmatic and administrative synergy agency-wide, across all programs and all sites.
The Board seeks an individual who will embrace the core values and mission of the JCC and expand the agency’s culture of innovation, planning and developing new opportunities and initiatives. S/he should be a relationship builder who is comfortable engaging with multiple and diverse patrons, stakeholders, and other partners. Successful candidates will possess the communication and executive leadership skills to stimulate creativity and development of programs and services, and will also have the curiosity, style, interests and entrepreneurial spirit to help the JCC continue to grow, and meet new opportunities and challenges. S/he should have prior experience as an executive in a multi-million enterprise, with profit and loss responsibilities, facilities at multi-sites and a large workforce, as well as keen understanding of running a mission-based business.
