Currently celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Young People’s Chorus of New York City (YPC) was founded in 1988 by its Artistic Director Francisco J. Núñez to provide children of all backgrounds with a unique program of music education and choral performance that seeks to fulfill the potential of every child, while creating a model of artistic excellence and humanity that enriches the community. The resident chorus at Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center, YPC is the recipient of America’s highest honor for youth programs—a National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award—presented to the chorus by First Lady Michelle Obama.
Position Overview
The organization has an immediate requirement for a qualified Development & Events Assistant. This individual will assist with fundraising and events. The position will be responsible for assisting in preparation of grant applications and reports; maintaining the grants management database; event logistics; gift entry and acknowledgment; generating reports; preparing donor appeals; and assisting with contract management.
General Position Responsibilities
Operational Specifics:

Maintain the donor database.
-
Enter and oversee acknowledgment of gifts.
-
Maintain Development Department calendar.
-
Manage the invitation and RSVP lists for all development events
-
Liaison and logistics with event management organization
-
Assist in preparation and production of materials for grant applications and reports.

Work closely with staff and outside consultant to support annual gala.
-
Prepare and coordinate mailing of appeal letters.
-
Coordinate annual City Council lobbying campaign.
-
Assist in management of government contract requirements.

Research funding opportunities.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience:
-
Bachelor’s degree required.
-
2 years of development experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-
Knowledge of NYC arts/youth funding community preferred.
-
Exemplary writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
-
Special events experience a strong plus.
