Founded in 1991, the Melton Foundation promotes global citizenship as a way to encourage people and institutions to collaborate on shared global challenges. We accomplish this through a portfolio of hands-on projects and activities that involve a growing network of Melton Fellows, universities, and partners in diverse world regions who share our commitment to global citizenship.
The Foundation currently has 450 Melton Fellows and five partner universities in Chile, China, Germany, India, and the US, with plans to expand to Sub-Saharan Africa and the Arab World over the next two years.
Job Description:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Resource Development Coordinator will collaborate with staff, board members, partner institutions, and Melton Fellows to develop a diverse, worldwide portfolio of private and public funders including businesses, private foundations, government agencies, and individual sponsors committed to furthering the MF mission.
Tasks include:

Research, cultivate, and steward sponsors, donors, and strategic partners representing diverse funding pools

Develop grant proposals to public and private program sponsors and funders

Carry out annual fundraising campaigns among the MF’s member network

Manage the donation tracking and acknowledgment process

Collaborate with MF partner institutions in joint resource development

Assist in the promotion of the MF’s brand and advocacy of global citizenship

Help strengthen the MF network’s capacity for resource development

Other tasks as required by the position
Candidate Requirements:
Candidates should have a minimum of three years experience with US-based sponsors and private donors who support international programs as well as, preferably, development experience in other regions where the MF is currently active. The role also requires prior experience with fundraising campaigns through events and/or social media. Candidates should also embody global citizenship through prior work, study, and life experiences across geographies and cultures.

A track record of successful, mutually beneficial donor relationships

Successful proposal writing experience

Experience with fundraising campaigns

Evidence of strong writing and oral communication skills; native-level English

Work and/or study related to leading global issues

Prior success working across cultures and in collaborative, distributed teams

Genuine commitment to the MF’s mission and core values

Ability to think strategically and creatively

Experience with using Social Media to support fundraising

Familiarity with at least one of the leading donor tracking software packages

Availability to travel

Basic ability or better in any of the following languages is a strong asset: Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian, or Spanish
Work Location:
The MF is a networked organization with staff and partner institutions worldwide. For this position, preference will be given to candidates located near clusters of international philanthropy in the US (Washington, DC, Bay Area, Austin, New York, etc.). The candidate is expected to provide her/his own workspace (home, shared office, etc.). The MF will cover direct costs of connectivity, travel, and software required by the job.
