WVIZ/PBS and 90.3 WCPN ideastream, Northeast Ohio’s Public Media organization is seeking a GIFTS AND GRANTS DIRECTOR … a seasoned development professional who can help us grow our major gifts and grants area. The candidate needs to be a hands-on person who will manage a staff and be heavily involved in prospecting, writing and face-to-face communication with potential individual and foundation donors. In addition, this person will lead internal ideastream teams that work to creatively mold our programs and projects into fundable and sustainable opportunities.
This position has primary accountability to secure funding to support ideastream’s multiple media programs and projects, as well as institutional projects as assigned by executive management.
The ideal candidate will have:
- In depth demonstrated understanding of non-profit fundraising practices, especially grants.
- In-depth written and oral communication skills; presentation skills; demonstrated ability to organize and present complex information.
- The ability to easily and effectively meet with a broad range of constituents to clearly communicate the case for funding a wide variety of programs and projects.
- Broad general business knowledge: budgeting, planning, human resource management etc.
- Individual and team leadership skills.
- Demonstrated emotional intelligence: empathy, trust, integrity and social sensitivity.
- Computer proficiency: word processing, spreadsheets, email and internet.
- Seasoned level of professional experience in non-profit development practices.
- Post secondary degree in a related field
