Rainforest Alliance - Translation Services for Eco-Index.org
The Rainforest Alliance launched the Eco-Index® in 2001 to provide the conservation community with a quickly and easily accessible vehicle to share project data and reports, lessons learned, and best practices in a succinct and consistent format. Today the Eco-Index is a bilingual database of more than 1,000 biodiversity conservation projects in the Caribbean and North, Central and South America. To best serve our audience, the entire site is available in English and Spanish. Profiles of projects based in Brazil are also in Portuguese and profiles of projects based in the Caribbean will soon be available in French. Each project profile posted on the Eco-Index is submitted and updated each year by project directors. Before any information is posted on the site, it is carefully edited and translated to ensure that we are providing information that is as useful as possible.
With funding from the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF), the Rainforest Alliance is beginning a new project called “Connecting Conservationists in the Caribbean Islands Hotspot.” The Eco-Index will provide CEPF grantees with a suite of communication tools to share project information, best practices, and lessons learned and connect with fellow grantees and colleagues across the hotspot. Content relevant to the Caribbean Islands hotspot will be available in English, Spanish, and French.
The Rainforest Alliance is an international nonprofit organization that works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behavior. Based in New York City, with offices throughout the United States and worldwide, the Rainforest Alliance works with people whose livelihoods depend on the land, helping them transform the way they grow food, harvest wood and host travelers.
