Membership Coordinator

National Lawyers Guild San Francisco Bay Area
San Francisco, California

National Lawyers Guild San Francisco Bay Area - Membership Coordinator The Membership Coordinator is responsible for managing the memberships of hundreds of politically progressive lawyers, law students, and legal workers in the National Lawyers Guild San Francisco Bay Area Chapter (NLGSF) as well as engaging with the membership and broader community through events and communications.

Major Responsibilities

  • Manage membership database.
  • Build and maintain a strong membership.
  • Manage regular events and initiate new events.
  • Facilitate regular communication with and among the membership.

Main Responsibilities

Membership

  • Respond to new member inquiries.
  • Compile and distribute membership recruitment materials.
  • Build relationships with law students to ensure active chapters at Bay Area law schools.
  • Oversee monthly billing of members and lapsed members.
  • Attend regular Executive Board meetings and report on changes in membership numbers, recruitment efforts.

Events

  • Work with volunteers and staff to plan and execute events, including our chapter's annual Testimonial Dinner for 400+ guests.
  • Organize membership engagement events.
  • Handle RSVP's and communications about events.
  • Book venues and work with vendors.
  • Create event announcements, invitations and flyers.

Communication

  • Work with Executive Director and volunteers on web-based, email, and newsletter communications to members and donors.
  • Manage tools, such as email discussion lists, used for communication among members.
  • Assist with production and distribution of publications to achieve program goals.

Program Committees

  • Support the work of program committees, particularly the chapter’s demonstrations support work.
  • Carry out administrative tasks to support program committee work including data entry.
  • Work with program committees on communication needs.

Office Administration

  • General office filing and data entry.
  • Work with Executive Director in maintaining equipment including; copier, phones and computers.
  • Work with Executive Director on directing the work of interns and office volunteers.
  • Partner with the Executive Director on a number of tasks.

Qualifications and Characteristics

Required

  • Experience and high comfort level with constituent relationship management tools, including membership databases.
  • Experience with membership event planning and coordination.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of issues related to a progressive political agenda, including: support for civil liberties, workers' rights, social justice; opposition to government repression, racism, homophobia.
  • Self-motivated, able to implement and complete projects in a timely manner.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities; flexible, comfortable in environment with many projects and a lot of activity by members/volunteers.

Desired

  • Experience working in a grassroots, membership organization.
  • Experience working with individuals in the legal profession.
  • Layout and design skills.
  • Knowledge of civicrm.
  • Knowledge of drupal.

Compensation Salary of $35,000-$42,000 depending on experience and desired skills. Generous benefits package.
