The Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation's (OLSHF) mission is "to screen, treat, save, and restore sight and hearing for people in need." The 53 year-old organization was in The 100 Best Nonprofits to Work for in Oregon for the last two years in a row. It has a $1.7 million budget and a $4+ million Endowment. OLSHF is located right on the tram line at Legacy Good Sam at NW 22nd and Lovejoy, a great area to work, with free parking.
We're looking for a motivated and experienced development associate to join our team and continue our momentum, building donor support through grant writing for our seven direct service healthcare programs. To learn more, please visit: www.olshf.org. Our goal is to raise $290,000 in new foundation and corporate grants this year. Our new fiscal year begins July 1, 2012.
The winning candidate will help complete our $615,000 capital campaign to expand the largest free mobile health screening program in Oregon (81% complete). We are looking for a candidate with a very strong work ethic and excellent writing skills, who will thrive in a high-paced team environment. We need someone who loves a good writing and editing partnership process.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: This is a 40 hour per week full time Exempt position. The Development Associate will report directly to the Resource Development Director and will also work closely with the organization's Executive Director. The salary range is $35-40,000 per year with 100% healthcare through Kaiser, alt care, vision, and dental, with three weeks’ vacation. After six months, OLSHF contributes 4% of gross salary to a fully vested retirement fund regardless of an employee’s match or personal contribution.

Excellent technical writing skills required

Excellent Word, Excel, budget, document production skills

Successful experience winning grants preferred

Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills

Excellent communication skills -- oral and written

Experience researching and managing small and major grants

Knowledge of grant search websites and software

Experience in donor tracking and database systems

Experience managing grant reporting and compliance requirements for all awards

Knowledge and experience of all components of a comprehensive development program

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Demonstrated ability to work both independently and cooperatively as a team member

Four year college or university degree required
