As part of the Corporate and Foundation Programs team, the Foundation Strategy Officer is responsible for helping develop and implement foundation giving programs and strategies to meet annual foundation fundraising goals. This position will work closely with fundraisers to execute compelling funding programs and platforms.
Responsibilities:
Advises on foundation fundraising strategy and objectives to maximize fundraising locally, regionally, nationally and globally. Creates and implements programs and platforms, like regional solutions and matching programs, as well as delivery reports and benefits. Creates customized programs to meet both donor intention and organizational needs. Ensures compliance with foundation donor requirements including timely reports and metric-driven results. Works closely with the Division and chapter-based foundation fundraisers to maximize the fundraising opportunity, execute foundation fundraising tactics, and ensure donor satisfaction for top foundation donors. Identifies and implements best practices in foundation fundraising. Reviews and analyzes programs regularly to ensure goals and objectives are met. Develops resources and training programs, and provides support for Red Cross fundraisers regarding foundation programs. Establishes successful working relationships with
Divisional fundraisers and key field units to create cross-functional collaboration and to identify potential funders.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Communications, Marketing, Business, English, Organizational Development, Psychology, or a relevant field. A minimum of five years experience with demonstrated success in major gifts, corporate fundraising, marketing, sales, or communications. Extensive knowledge of fundraising and/or marketing principles/techniques in large organizations. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong interpersonal, negotiation and liaison skills. Must display tact and diplomacy in difficult or sensitive situations. Demonstrated ability to build and execute fundraising plans. Ability to operate independently and deal effectively and persuasively with management and staff. Demonstrated ability to build alliances and gain team consensus. Comfortable working under pressure in a rapidly changing/multidimensional environment is essential. Experience with branch management or affiliate structure is preferred. Knowledge o
f Microsoft Office is necessary and experience with a donor management system (like Raiser’s Edge or Team Approach) is preferred. Operational flexibility to meet sudden and unpredictable business needs, willingness to work outside standard established business hours, and a moderate amount (25%) of business travel are required.
