Greater Chicago Food Depository - Director of Annual and Major Giving
Direct the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of the 55,000 + annual donors to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Work in close partnership with senior leadership to develop and provide strategic direction and management for all current and legacy individual giving to GCFD. Oversee internal systems related to individual giving, including monitoring a calendar of mailings, supervising individual donor communication efforts, planning stewardship and recognition activities, and participating in revenue projection/budgeting based on known opportunities. Maintain an active portfolio of donors.
Responsibilities:

Building relationships through direct contact.

Manage a portfolio of individual donors.
-
Oversee cultivation activities. This includes long-term loyalty and donor commitment by communicating appropriately and providing strategic direction for the development of cultivation/recognition events and stewardship opportunities.

Work with Direct Response & Stewardship Manager and direct mail and online campaign vendors to ensure effective use of resources and appropriate analysis and evaluation is occurring.

Establish and grow a Planned Giving Program

Build relationships with professional advisors and develop ways to involve them at GCFD.

Oversee creation of planned giving materials and strategies for promotion.

Design and implement appropriate recognition opportunities.

Provide strategic direction for acquisition and renewal activities of individual donors.

Work with Communications team to ensure integrated messaging and themes.

Supervise and provide strategic guidance to direct response activities.
-
Oversee a master calendar of mailings and online campaign efforts.

Administrative
-
Supervise Direct Response & Stewardship Manager and Major Gifts Manager.
-
Advise senior leadership and finance staff on individual giving revenue projection/budgeting based on known opportunities.

Analyze results of initiatives and adjust, as necessary.

Monitor and produce reports related to projected income, ensuring that annual income targets are met.

Interact with the Fund Development team to support integrated fundraising efforts.

Assist with other Fund Development projects, as necessary.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent combination of relevant work experience or training.
-
5-7 years of experience in major gift or planned giving fundraising with non-profit/community-based organizations, government or educational agencies.

Proficiency in MS Office- Word, Excel, PowerPoint and donor software, Raiser’s Edge preferred.

Skilled in developing and facilitating collaborative relationships with internal and external partners.
-
Must be a self starter with the ability to work independently to create and implement plans for department success.

Strong organizational planning and administrative skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
-
Supervisory experience preferred.
-
Demonstrated experience with major gifts management.
-
Strategic thinking, analysis, written and verbal skills.
-
Familiarity with planned giving vehicles and methods.
-
Knowledge and familiarity with Chicago philanthropic community highly desired.
-
Available for occasional evening and weekend hours.
