California Summer Music was founded in 1996 to provide a focused and professionally-attuned environment for young musicians to explore and take joy in the creation, expression, and connections that classical music, as a living art, provides. Our faculty, led by cellist Irene Sharp, represents some of the most outstanding professional musicians and music educators in the U.S. and around the world. The student-teacher ratio at CSM is approximately 6:1, and the faculty lives on campus, creating a nurturing atmosphere for students to pursue their musical goals. The program culminates in a festival of solo and chamber music concerts and outreach performances, which are free to the public. CSM is overseen by a seven-member Board of Trustees; staff includes the Artistic Director and an Office Manager, in addition to the Development Manager position as posted.
