Wellspring Living - Program Director

1 in 4 women is abused sexually by the time she reaches adulthood. In 2001, Wellspring Living, a 501(c)(3) organization, formed to help survivors of childhood sexual abuse overcome their broken pasts and move towards hopeful futures. Our mission is to confront the issue of childhood sexual abuse and exploitation through advocacy, education and treatment programs for girls and women. Our programs are a refuge for women and girls who need a chance to start over. Through therapy, education, life skills and spiritual renewal, the Wellspring programs give participants recovery tools for the body, soul and spirit.

Job Description:

Under the direction of the COO and in accordance with Wellspring Living’s mission and vision this position seeks to develop and maintain high quality healing and restoration programs for young (12-22 years old) female victims of childhood sexual exploitation. The Program Director is responsible for administrative leadership to all program coordinators including the Victory Residential program, Therapeutic Day school and Empowered Living program. This position provides overall direction of department staff assuming a key leadership role in the areas of human resources, developing strategic and operational plans, regulatory compliance, licensing, and certification, and budget management. The Program Director assures department services and goals are accomplished by providing appropriate direction, monitoring and reviews.

Job Duties: The duties of this position include but are not limited to the following:

Administration: Staffing, Budget, Regulatory Compliance

  • Work with Program Coordinators to recruit, hire and supervise staff (volunteer coordinators, career/education coordinators, coaches, etc.)
  • Develop, implement and oversee strategic and operational plans
  • Maintain all current requirements for regulatory compliance and licensing
  • Work with COO to create and comply to program goals and budget; manage overall Girls’ Program budget on an on-going basis
  • Works in tandem with Wellspring executive directors to raise awareness of program goals and needs in effort to procure funding as needed
  • Ensure that Policies and Procedures are routinely followed

Program Structure:

  • Oversee development of components and procedures of the program(s) as appropriate, in concert with Clinical Director for therapeutic components
  • Work with coordinators to implement program components
  • Coordinate communication and function of all departments
  • Utilize the strength based approach in providing structure for the program
  • Ensure that programs and services adhere to all current licensing standards
  • Work with coordinators/staff to provide excellence in all duties and services
  • Build and maintain positive program relationships internally and externally
  • Keep abreast of ongoing changes in regulatory mandates, and develop, implement and monitor policy and procedures to remain in compliance

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Possess a master's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, childhood education, education counseling/psychology, or a related field and have experience in the field of child care
  • Children’s residential administrative experience required, with preference to candidates who have managed staff of 10+ and budgets of $500+K
  • Documentation of at least two professional, educational, or personal references that attest to the person's capabilities of performing the duties of the position and to the person's suitability of working with or around children;
  • Satisfactory preliminary criminal history background check determination and a satisfactory fingerprint records check determination as required by law
  • Documentation from a licensed physician or other licensed healthcare professional of a health screening examination within thirty (30) days of hiring sufficient in scope to identify conditions that may place residents at risk of infection, injury or improper care
  • Never have been shown by credible evidence (such as a decision of a court or jury, or a department investigation or other reliable evidence) to have abused, neglected, sexually exploited, or deprived a child or adult or to have subjected any person to serious injury as a result of intentional or grossly serious injury
  • Ability to supervise staff and effectively assure policy compliance
  • Ability to oversee design, implementation and evaluation of residential program, empowered living, and therapeutic day school components
  • Willingness to pursue and participate in continuing education to stay up to date on best practices and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Well organized and adept at performing multiple tasks
  • Highly effective communicator
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws governing residential/non-residential programs. Ability to represent Wellspring Living in local, state and federal meetings and activities.

Work Hours and Location:

The position is a salaried 40+ hours per week position. Work hours are generally 8:30 – 4:30 Monday – Friday, with flexibility to monitor staff on evenings and weekends, as required during start-up, and staff development. Currently the Girls’ Programs are based on the Southside of Atlanta, and the Program Director position requires regular on-site presence.
