Now in its forty-first year, the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players is an internationally recognized leader among advocates for contemporary chamber music. Led by world-renowned conductor/percussionist Steven Schick, the members of the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players are all active as soloists and chamber musicians. Many are members of the San Francisco Symphony, Ballet, or Opera Orchestras; others perform and record with their own chamber ensembles. The San Francisco Contemporary Music Players presents an annual subscription series of chamber music, and nourishes the creation and dissemination of new music through commissioning, recording, and educational outreach to students and adults. The ensemble has recently announced a major commissioning project in which its 2014-15 season will be based around ten newly commissioned works.
Job Requirements:

Five or more years of management experience in arts and nonprofit administration.

Demonstrated success in fund development (both institutional and individual), grant writing, and donor cultivation.

Proven ability in financial and human resource management, collaboration, and communication.

Preferred skills include music literacy and knowledge of contemporary chamber music practices and repertoire.
Position Description:
The Executive Director manages the human, financial, and property resources of the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players and is accountable for all aspects of the organization. The Executive Director reports to the Board and works closely with the Artistic Director. The organization’s annual budget averages about $400,000.
Key areas of focus include strategic planning, Board and Ensemble relations, fundraising, artistic administration, concert production, event planning, marketing, financial budgeting and control, compliance with applicable laws, and recruitment and supervision of staff and volunteers. The Executive Director supervises a full-time Director of Operations and Marketing and a part time Development Associate.
