AIPAC - Regional Christian Outreach Directors

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) seeks a Regional Outreach Director to promote pro-Israel advocacy among religiously-motivated pro-Israel Christians in the Midwest Region and in the Southwest Region. The position will be based in AIPAC's Midwest Regional Office in Chicago, IL, and the Southwest Regional Office in Houston, TX, but requires an introductory period in AIPAC's Washington, DC headquarters. The Midwest Region covers all or part of ten Midwestern states, including Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Midwest Regional Outreach Director will report to the Regional Director (Chicago) and the Southwest Regional Outreach Director will report to the Regional Director (Houston). Both will work closely with the National Outreach Director (Washington, DC).

The Regional Outreach Director will be responsible for the following:

  • Building relationships with key political, religious and community leaders within religiously motivated pro-Israel Christian communities in the Midwest Region, educating them about the US-Israel relationship and encouraging their involvement in pro-Israel politics
  • Recruiting participants for regional and national AIPAC events and for AIEF educational seminars in Israel
  • Maintaining and expanding relationships with Israel trip participants
  • Promoting pro-Israel political participation
  • Analyzing local political trends
  • Developing and refining action plans
  • Working closely with AIPAC's staff (regional and national) and volunteer lay leaders
  • Planning and implementing meetings, speaking events, conferences and other events
  • Assisting with mobilization on important legislative campaigns
  • Assisting in educational meetings with candidates for federal office
  • Traveling within the region frequently and to Washington, DC as needed with travel occasionally extending to Israel
  • Performing other activities as assigned by the Regional Director or National Outreach Director

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • Well-developed political skills, including political experience in Congress, in a state legislature or local government, on political campaigns, and/or equivalent activities, with proven ability to handle multiple tasks successfully
  • An abiding and demostrated commitment to advance the US-Israel relationship
  • A thorough understanding of and demonstrated experience working with religiously motivated pro-Israel Christian communities and politics
  • Superior organizational skills with keen attention to detail
  • Team-oriented personality with can-do attitude
  • Strong communication (oral and written) and research skills
  • Ability to travel regularly
