AIPAC - Director

The Area Director will be based in Chicago and responsible for AIPAC's activities in the Midwest region, focusing on Minnesota, Indiana and Iowa. The position reports to the Midwest Deputy Regional Director in Chicago.

Roles and Responsibilities

Oversee and assist with the implementation of all activities associated with achieving annual fundraising goals:

  • Coordinate and execute annual development plan, including face-to-face solicitations of major donors
  • Encourage current AIPAC donors to host AIPAC events while supervising their implementation
  • Establish and maintain relationships with donors and new prospects
  • Coordinate AIPAC's lobbying efforts with the region's Political Director to ensure support of the organization's legislative agenda
Develop AIPAC's volunteer lay leadership structure:
  • Cultivate and recruit new members/donors, volunteer lay leaders and pro-Israel activists
  • Create a leadership path for activists
  • Identify and recruit appropriate members for national AIPAC programs
  • Encourage pro-Israel political activism
  • Educate community members regarding the political process and political analyses of the congressional districts
  • Speak at events, small and large, for the purpose of educating the leadership, members and pro-Israel community regarding the latest developments in Israel and the Middle East and on American Israeli politics
Plan and execute AIPAC meetings and events including:
  • Synagogue, educational and membership events
  • Annual fundraising and recognition events for major donors
  • Parlor meeting and outreach events for new prospects
  • Coordinate/engage in recruiting for national initiatives including AIPAC's Policy Conference, National Summit and missions

Qualifications

  • Deep passion for strengthening the U.S.-Israel relationship
  • Bachelor's degree preferred with 2+ years work experience in related field
  • Ability and willingness to engage in extensive face-to-face solicitations
  • Self-starter with the ability to create innovative opportunities to attract new activists and donors to AIPAC
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Engaging public speaker
  • Outstanging organizational skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel
  • Knowledge of local Jewish community strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Israel and politics preferred
