PILnet: The Global Network for Public Interest Law - Development Manager
PILnet: The Global Network for Public Interest Law is an international human rights organization devoted to building a global network to activate, empower and connect those who use legal tools to work in the public interest (www.pilnet.org). Originally established through Columbia Law School in 1997, PILnet is now in its fifteenth year, operating from offices in Budapest, Beijing, Moscow and New York.
The Position
The Development Manager works closely with the Director of Development and Director of Foundation and Government Relations to support and help coordinate PILnet’s fundraising efforts. Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Manager is an integral member of the Development Team, managing the department’s systems and donor services, and assisting with new opportunities to expand PILnet’s network of support.
Responsibilities

Manage and develop information management systems and donor records for the department, including systems to maintain online and hardcopy archives, ensuring the accuracy of donor information;

Act as manager of the donor database, supervising data entry by staff, and helping other departments develop new systems and procedures for tracking and retrieving information and maintaining the integrity of the data;

Support stewardship, cultivation and solicitation activities, e.g. coordinating periodic donor mailings, and the implementation of the annual appeal process;

Research, profile and track prospective individual donors and board members;

Conduct research to identify foundation, law firm, government and corporate funding opportunities and track relationships with donors and prospects;

Handle administrative duties for the department;

Assist in maintaining the flow of information between Development and other departments;

Prepare and help implement fundraising events;

Assist with drafting of written materials, as needed;

Assist with the preparation of collateral materials for the department; and

Maintain Development calendars, tasks lists and department subscriptions and handle other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
-
BA degree required; 3-5 years experience in fundraising, particularly in development systems, prospect management and fundraising protocols

Experience in working with donors, especially high level donors, and board members
-
Resourceful with superb attention to detail

Skilled in Microsoft Office; experience with fundraising databases; high level of comfort with internet research; willingness and interest to use technology to advance the work of the department

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to take initiative and to manage multiple tasks and projects at a time
-
Strong interpersonal skills and a team player; a sense of humor

Interest in human rights and social justice
