Staff Accountant

The Brain Trauma Foundation (BTF) is a non-profit organization, dedicated to improving outcomes for patients with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). BTF, founded in 1986, recently celebrated 25 years of service.

We are currently seeking a qualified candidate who is professional and responsible for a full-time Staff Accountant-AP/AR position for immediate hire. Our office is conveniently located in lower Manhattan, NYC, in close proximity to several subway lines, bus routes, PATH trains, and ferries.

Responsibilities

• Process incoming bills for payment
• Print checks and prepare for mailing
• Enter allocations of expenses, including payroll/benefits and credit card charges
• Make bank deposits
• Enter cash receipts into accounting system
• Assist with preparation of budgets and reports for multiple funding sources
• Assist with account analysis and preparation of schedules for annual audit

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Accounting
• MINIMUM 3 years related accounting experience
• Experience in Not-for-Profit environment
• Experience in Grant accounting (multiple private, State, and Federal grants and contracts)
• Strong aptitude in the use of accounting software (QuickBooks preferred)
• Intermediate-to-advanced Excel skills

Other Qualifications

• Experience with budget preparation and variance analysis helpful
• Experience with bank reconciliations helpful
• Ability to handle multiple demands and deadlines simultaneously
• Ability to complete tasks accurately, completely, and on schedule
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to contribute as team player to meet deadlines
