The New Jersey Institute for Social Justice, a Newark-based urban advocacy and research non-profit organization, seeks an extremely organized, enthusiastic, intellectually curious individual who embraces challenges and is committed to social justice to serve as our Administrative Manager. This essential position maintains the work flow and operations of our entire office. The ideal candidate will be flexible, caring, responsive, energetic, and will have a sense of humor.
BACKGROUND
The New Jersey Institute for Social Justice has a demonstrated track record of cutting-edge advocacy, research, and program development to create and expand meaningful opportunities for urban and minority residents and communities in Newark and throughout the state. Referred to as a “social justice think and do tank,” the Institute employs a broad range of tools, including applied policy analysis and research, the development of pilot programs and advocacy, including litigation when appropriate.
DUTIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
The Administrative Manager is responsible for a wide variety of tasks including:

Maintaining the schedule of the President & CEO;

Scheduling meetings;
-
Preparing the office for all meetings (ordering food, ensuring technology is in place, creating and distributing agendas, etc.);

Drafting and managing correspondence;
-
Event planning;
-
Coordinating the public calendar;
-
Accounts payable and receivable;
-
Ordering;
-
Maintenance of office equipment;
-
Vendor management;
-
Overseeing all mailings;
-
Reception and filing;
-
Grant processing;
-
Managing the development database; and
-
Assisting with all aspects of the Institute’s annual awards dinner.
Candidates should possess: stellar organizational, interpersonal, written, and communication skills; the ability to work both as part of a team and independently; excellent computers skills in a Windows environment and a familiarity with databases; discretion; initiative; willingness to learn; excellent judgment; and a commitment to the mission of the Institute.
