Brooklyn Museum - Assistant Graphic Designer
The Brooklyn Museum is seeking an Assistant Graphic Designer to design exhibition graphics, way finding/signage, and print and electronic materials.
Our ideal candidate will have a clean, yet innovative, visual style that can interface with the Museum’s own stylebook.
Primary Responsibilities:

Design exhibition graphics for 12-16 art exhibitions per year, including titles, illustrated didactic panels, object labels, maps, timelines, brochures, mural prints and environmental displays

Work with Visitor Services on effective way-finding and exhibition directionals
-
Design direct mail materials, including invitations, membership renewal forms, response cards, and envelopes
-
Format images and design / art direct elements for the Museum’s website

Ability to meet all production and installation deadlines, and maintain a balanced project budget

Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
-
A degree in Graphic Arts, Digital Photography, or a related area required
-
2-4 years of experience designing graphics for an arts organization, Museum, or related institution, with a portfolio of produced work

Collaborate effectively with Exhibition Designers, Curators, and Editors.

Fluent use of InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator in an Apple environment. A dynamic use of typography, color, shape and imagery Superior skills at color matching and mixing, across media (print vs. paint vs. on-screen)

Demonstrated web design experience, which includes image sizing and art direction

Fluent knowledge of editorial marks and correction language

Familiarity with numerous production methods, including ink-jet and laser printing, silk-screening, vinyl graphics, transfer type, banners, durotrans, as well as 4-color print production

Attention to overall detail and neatness

Ability to juggle multiple projects effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, with flexibility as needed.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits package.
