Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship - Program Director

NFTE, the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship, with global headquarters based in New York City, is seeking a Program Director for the organization’s Bay Area Program Office.

Position Summary

The Program Director of the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) oversees and directs program strategy and implementation for NFTE’s experiential curriculum and quality youth in-school and summer entrepreneurship programs. This position is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the NFTE program at program sites throughout the Bay Area. The Program Director needs to be teacher-centric in developing innovative ways to support teachers and their classroom needs in implementing the NFTE program.

The Program Director will be instrumental in maintaining and developing relationships with district leaders, school administrators, teachers, and local colleges and universities as well as attracting and developing relationships with new schools, networks of schools and potential partners.

The successful candidate for this role will, in concert with the Executive Director, lead the creation and design of new strategies for growth as well as manage implementation of high quality NFTE program. The position requires flexibility, creativity, an entrepreneurial mindset and well developed strategic thinking skills.

Responsibilities

Leading the creation and implementation of a successful district-wide strategy

  • Develop strategies for cultivating current NFTE programs, recruiting new high caliber programs and expanding strategic partnership development.
  • Serve as chief liaison between NFTE programs, school site administrators, school district leaders and other key partners, coordinating ongoing activities to inform and engage them.
  • Lead the identification and design opportunities to expand the program in key districts throughout the Bay Area.
  • Spearhead the accreditation of NFTE’s curriculum as a UC a-g elective class in all school districts we operate in.
  • Create a sales strategy to expand to new schools including overseeing the development of supporting materials.
  • Gain access to student data from key school districts and work in concert with NFTE’s research and evaluation team to utilize that data to inform our delivery on key outcomes.

Designing and Implementing Teacher Professional Development and Support

  • Lead coordination of corps of NFTE teachers
  • Design regional support services for teachers to build their business knowledge and skills in teaching entrepreneurship experientially, including ongoing professional development, classroom observations and teacher communication.
  • Enhance teacher support to maintain a high teacher satisfaction and retention rate.
  • Analyze student outcomes and teacher performance and implement initiatives to improve program and teacher performance.

NFTE Program Implementation

  • Work with school’s administration, teachers and program staff to build program quality and consistency across programs.
  • Ensure program standards are adhered to by all active NFTE teachers.
  • Actively participate in National Program Team initiatives, representing NFTE Bay Area in the larger network of program staff, sharing best practices and culling learnings from the network for implementation in Bay Area.
  • Lead the annual Semi-Final business plan competition and partner with the Executive Director on the execution of the Regional competition.
  • Work with Program Manager to further develop our volunteer programs to support achievement of the Optimum Student Experience and to better leverage volunteer resources.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director and Program Manager to design and execute volunteer initiatives with corporate partners. Help build relationships with new partners who can provide and/or monitor volunteers.
  • Lead program implementation of the Digital Classroom, ensuring achievement of objectives, budget management and adherence to grant requirements.
  • Lead the management of the NFTE Launch alumni program. Lead efforts to showcase NFTE alumni and connect them to resources that help in their personal and professional development.

General Administrative

  • Track program data, performance and evaluation, and document qualitative and quantitative program features for reporting and development purposes.
  • Maintain program files and develop systems for managing program data where necessary to ensure efficient and effective sharing of information among NFTE Bay Area staff and with partners as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree in business, education or policy is preferred.
  • Experience working in OUSD or SFUSD and/or familiarity with school districts is strongly preferred.
  • People management experience is required.
  • Strategic planning and implementation as well as excellent project management experience a must.
  • Team player, able to work independently and collaboratively, displaying strong leadership and organizational skills, and the ablity to manage multiple projects.
  • Creativity, capacity to manage ambiguity and entrepreneurial spirit a must
  • Minimum two to four years experience teaching middle school or high school, working closely to develop teachers and/or principals or developing and implementing system-wide strategies is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with CRM databases is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail orientation required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, comfortable using technology and interested in how technology can better educational outcomes.
  • Familiarity with business concepts a plus.
  • Strong customer service orientation required.
  • Commitment to excellence in services to underprivileged youth.

The Program Director position is full-time and reports to the Executive Director.
