Disability Rights Fund - Grant Writer (Part-Time)
The Disability Rights Fund is a grantmaking collaborative aimed at building community capacity to achieve the rights of all persons with disabilities. The Fund makes modest grants (USD $5000-100,000) to Disabled Persons’ Organizations in the Global South, Middle East, and Eastern Europe/former Soviet Union for advancing the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) at country-level.
Responsibilities
The Grant Writer is responsible for the development and preparation of foundation, corporate, and government grant proposals; interim and final reports; and other correspondence related to grants for the Disability Rights Fund. In addition, the Grant Writer will work with the Executive Director to research potential funding sources and develop a prospect list. The Grant Writer is a part time position and will be located in Boston, MA.
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Grant Writer’s responsibilities include:

Write and edit letters of intent, concept notes, proposals, reports, and other correspondence for submission to foundation, corporate, and government funders

Draft and edit online and offline donor focused correspondence

Research private, corporate, and government funding opportunities

Research online portals for donor giving

Work with DRF team to ensure accuracy of information exchanged with donors

Work with accountant and Executive Director to collect budget information

Maintain a portfolio of program and promotional materials that are used as attachments to proposals and grants

Maintain internal deadline calendar for grant proposals and reporting

Acknowledge and track grants and help manage grants contracts
Skills and qualifications
The ideal candidate should demonstrate:
-
Experience in writing successful large, multi-year grants, and in accurately representing accomplishments and program goals to external stakeholders

Experience with writing bilateral grant proposals

Ability to write concise, compelling narratives to engage funders
-
Skilled with budgeting in Excel and comfortable with numbers
-
Strong administrative and organizational skills; the ability to manage time efficiently
-
Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Demonstrated ability to work well with diverse populations
-
Familiarity with human rights, and specifically with the disability community and the CRPD, preferred

Bachelors degree, or equivalent with minimum 5 years of relevant experience; advanced degree desired

Proven record of successful grant proposals and donor relationships
-
Fluency in English
