Director of Finance

The ILR School at Cornell University seeks to fill the role of Director of Finance. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Finance, Administration, and Corporate Relations, the Finance Director has primary responsibility for the management, oversight and stewardship of the college's restricted and unrestricted financial portfolio, presently valued at nearly $70 million annually. This includes development and administration of the annual trustee, operational and capital budget and accompanying and quarterly reviews and analysis; development and analysis of multi-year, multi-variable revenue forecasting; assuming leadership for the development and implementation of operational controls that support audit approved best practices; and providing leadership at the college and statutory campus level in the interpretation and consistent application of State, University and College policies and practices. This position serves as a key consultant and advisor to deans, chairs, faculty and staff on all financial matters by encouraging the effective utilization of resources in a manner that consistently furthers the academic, teaching and outreach mission of the college.

In addition, the Director of Finance will work closely with the Associate Dean and with the managers of the Outreach Division (about 15 units generating between $150,000 - $6 million in revenue) to develop a sophisticated sales support and contract administration program in conjunction with ILR's NYC Office. There will be strong emphasis placed on business development support for a growing executive education, consulting, and sponsored research business with total revenues approaching $20 million. The Budget Director position will report to this person along with approximately 12 budget analysts, AR, and support personnel. The Director of Finance will be charged with developing and sustaining an integrative, collaborative, and sharing environment within the finance and budget function.
