The Police Athletic League of Philadelphia (PAL) is a non-profit youth development organization whose mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of boys and girls, ages 6 through 18, by providing free educational, athletic, recreational and cultural after-school and summer programs at 26 youth centers supervised by full-time Philadelphia Police Officers.
The Executive Director of Development (EDD) reports to the PAL Commanding Officer and Board Chairperson and is responsible for planning, overseeing and directing all of PAL’s fundraising efforts as well as managing a staff of at least six full-time employees.
Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree and/or non-profit management certificate desirable; excellent oral and written communication skills a must.. Minimum ten years fundraising experience with proven track record of success including primary responsibility for planning and executing broad range of fundraising best practices in annual giving, major gifts, combined and/or capital campaigns, planned giving, and special events. Good working knowledge of local, state, corporate, foundation and individual funding sources essential.
Must have proficiency with development software (Raiser’s Edge) and data base management and analysis; web management skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office systems for word processing, merges, shared calendar and related functions, and ability to create meaningful Excel spreadsheets. Ability to prepare and assess project budgets and understand financial statements is required. Must possess a good working knowledge of marketing, advertising, PSAs and public relations strategies including direct mail and online/social media for events and brand visibility.
