About OSF: The Oakland Schools Foundation is a dynamic, growing non-profit organization that develops resources and provides financial and operational services for Oakland’s public schools. OSF currently has ten fulltime staff and revenues of more than $2 million for the fiscal year ended June 2012. The culture of OSF is mission-driven, outcomes-based, collaborative, and focused on continuous improvement for our schools. The staff decides on the organization’s projects, objectives, and strategies together to derive the highest standard of service and outcomes for our schools. Working with more than 45 mostly low-income public schools, OSF has developed a portfolio of fund development, administrative, operational, marketing, and data management services designed to help school staff access and manage resources to meet many needs that are typically unfunded in our public schools.

Position Overview
The full-time Grants Coordinator position is a key member of our Development team, who together help raise more than $1.5 million in private funding annually. This is an opportunity to be part of a hard-working team dedicated to supporting equitable opportunities for all Oakland children.
The Grants Coordinator is responsible for writing and reporting on grant programs for Oakland public schools. The Grants Coordinator is also charged with overseeing key Development systems, including our Salesforce database, and our program monitoring and working with school staff to maintain successful, accountable programs. This position works closely with the Programs Assistant as well as other members of our 10-person team, and school site staff, and is supervised by the OSF Manager, Development. This position is based at the OSF office in Oakland, but requires some travel to school sites, partners’ offices, and events venues. We work hard, but have fun in our work and value humor and offer broad opportunities for growth.
Qualifications
OSF seeks an intellectually curious, resourceful professional with writing, editing, and research skills, creative problem solving, exceptional organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and project management experience to fill this position. We are looking for someone with the following qualifications:

Bachelors Degree of relevant area and/ or equivalent work experience

Proven track record of success in a similar position

At least two years of experience in non-profit development, including: grant writing, donor campaigns, fund prospecting, and grants administration

Skillful writer and editor

Experienced researcher and resourceful information gatherer

Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team.

Ability to problem solve and multi-task— meeting hard deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Self reliant and flexible: ability to organize assignments and prioritize work effectively

Ability to maintain a high degree of quality and superior attention to detail in complex work

Technologically savvy, experience with Salesforce a plus
Responsibilities
Grants coordination
-
Perform research on funders for school, program, and OSF grants
-
Write grants and reports for OSF, programs, and for schools; write cover letters and Letters of Inquiry; collect collateral material as needed for proposals and reports

Interface with OSF staff, teachers, school staff, district leaders, and data specialists to acquire data and report on programs

Support school site program managers of OSF-funded projects to ensure execution of scope of work, proper program monitoring, documentation, and accountability

Support coordination of collaborative program grants; write and report on collaborative program grants

Oversee grant program monitoring and program assessment needs

Create and monitor program and organizational budgets, as needed
Donor campaigns

Support staff in implementing effective donor campaigns, mailings, events, and social media efforts
Other Support

Participate as a critical team member in regular staff and cross-department meetings and events

Must meet and maintain federal, state, local and Oakland Schools Foundation guidelines including, but not limited to, fingerprint clearance and negative TB test.

Dependable car, valid driver’s license, and proof of insurance required.
Compensation: $44,000 - $52,000 annual salary, depending on experience; full time 40 hours per week
