Development and Office Assistant

Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship

Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship - Development and Office Assistant NFTE, the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship, with global headquarters based in New York City, is a seeking a Development & Office Assistant for the organization’s Chicago Program Office.

Organization Background: The Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) is an IRS approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. NFTE provides entrepreneurship education programs to young people from low-income communities. NFTE’s strategy for achieving this mission is to form partnerships with schools, universities and community-based organizations, create innovative experiential curricula, train and support local teachers, and provide supportive alumni services. Since its founding in 1987, NFTE has reached over 450,000 students. NFTE has active programs in 11 program offices and 9 countries.

Position Summary: NFTE Chicago is seeking a part-time Development Intern with a meticulous attention to detail and ability to support the administrative and development/fundraising functions of NFTE Chicago. This new position will play an important supporting role in helping NFTE Chicago manage its operations and office efficiently.

Responsibilities:

  • Donor cultivation and management – write thank you letters and other communications, including larger mailings to donors and prospects;
  • Prospect research – creation of prospect research profiles;
  • Special events – assist with coordination of special events as needed;
  • Operations support – assist with database management, outlook calendar management, and accounting functions;
  • Office management – order and update office supplies and assist with administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of successful office and professional experience required;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft programs (Microsoft office and Outlook) required. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge a plus;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required;
  • Applicant should enjoy working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, high-energy work environment, and managing multiple tasks and responsibilities;
  • Team player with the ability to work independently and in a group setting;
  • Excellent organizational abilities, detail-oriented, promptness and dependability;
  • Able to work with a high degree of self-direction and flexibility, especially with respect to taking initiative, prioritizing multiple tasks, and using good judgment to resolve problems;
  • Excellent time-management skills and the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Minimum 16 hours per week and maximum of 29 hours per week during business hours.
