Older Adults Technology Services - Director of Development (Part-Time)
Director of Development (Part Time)
Older Adults Technology Services (OATS) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated development professional to provide strategy, supervision and oversight of fundraising activities for the organization. OATS is a New York City-based nonprofit that provides technology training, support and programs for senior citizens at more than 30 locations across the city. The organization is experiencing strong growth and is seeking a part-time development director to lead all aspects of fundraising, with particular focus on individual donors, foundations and corporate sponsorships.
This is a part-time position and OATS intends to hire additional consultants or part-time staff to carry out ongoing development activities such as grant-writing, grant reporting, corporate sponsorship development, events planning and direct mail. The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled professional with substantial relevant experience; a passion for our mission ("harness the power of technology to change the way we age"); extraordinary planning, organizational, communications and writing skills; and a commitment to excellence. OATS has a ten-person staff working out of our Park Slope, Brooklyn office and also operates a technology "Exploration Center" in Manhattan.
Duties include:
-
Develop, manage and track an overall development plan for the organization. Meet weekly with the executive director and development team to track progress.
-
Assist the executive director in hiring and supervising additional development consultants
-
Strengthen the OATS messaging strategy and case statement, and assist with the creation of core marketing and fundraising materials, including the compilation of “success stories” and other compelling data
-
Oversee and edit the writing of grant proposals, funder reports, outreach materials and related development materials. (Note: Primary responsibility for grant-writing and reporting is expected to be outsourced).
-
Manage a pipeline system to track, prioritize, calendar and assign grant solicitation and reporting activity
-
Develop and oversee a plan for individual giving, including direct mail, events, board contributions and major donor solicitation
-
Prospect research on institutional funders (foundations, corporations, government agencies)
OATS anticipates this position to require 15-20 hours per week, with flexible hours and significant home-based work possible. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and will be arranged on a contract (not salaried) basis, unless otherwise negotiated.
Application Instructions
To apply, please send your resume and a cover letter, in PDF format, detailing your relevant experience and skills, along with a salary history or requirements to jobs@oats.org. To learn more about OATS, visit www.oats.org
