Sports & Arts in Schools Foundation (SASF) is New York City’s leading provider of after-school programs. Our mission is to help bridge the academic performance gap among under-achieving students and in low income neighborhoods through wholesome, skill-building activities designed to improve children’s academic performance, health and wellness, attitude towards school, self-confidence, character and values, and opportunity for lifelong employment.
SUMMARY
The Director of Development fosters a new culture of philanthropy within the organization and builds a network of individual, corporate, and foundations that are eager to invest in SASF programs and mission. The Director of SASF will have strong individual and foundation fundraising experience and will be responsible for raising approximately $1.7M in new private contributions over the next 24 months. This position manages a portfolio of donors and prospects with the capacity to give significant individual gifts and grants for restricted and unrestricted purposes. Requires strategic and management experience to provide hands-on delivery of all aspects of private fundraising. This person will be expected to perform an increasingly more important leadership role in SASF. Must have high comfort level in working with key stakeholders, including the Board of Directors. The position has a strong focus on in-person solicitation, cultivation, and stewardship as well as writing pro
posals, letters of inquiry, grant reports, acknowledgements, and other materials for funders. The position will also be responsible for drafting and presenting reports to the SASF Board of Directors.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of successful fundraising from individuals, foundations, and corporations ($50,000+) in the NYC area. Candidates must have at least 7 years of development and fundraising experience in the NYC philanthropic community. Exceptional interpersonal communications and writing skills required.
