Associate Director of Institutional Giving
SCO Family of Services, one of the leading human services organizations in the New York metropolitan area, seeks an Associate Director of Individual Giving. With offices in Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Long Island, the agency’s Executive Offices are located in Glen Cove, Nassau County, Long Island. SCO Family of Services provides essential human services to 60,000 children, youth, families and adults in 110 locations throughout New York City and Long Island. We help vulnerable New Yorkers meet life’s challenges and help them build a solid foundation for the future.
This position will report directly to the Director of Institutional Advancement and will be responsible for supervising all aspects of contributed income from foundations, corporate foundations and government entities.
Responsibilities will include:
In conjunction with the Director of Institutional Advancement:

Work with Senior Program Staff to develop and implement a foundation fundraising plan that includes strategies to support and renew current grants while expanding the foundation funding base.

Collaborate with Senior Program Staff to conceive and develop funding concepts.

Supervise all aspects of contributed income from foundations, donor advised funds, corporate foundations, and government entities.

Write major grant proposals for above, and review the work of Senior Grant Writer.

Working with agency leadership, strategize ways of packaging and positioning SCO current and future initiatives to maximize funding long term.

Oversee reporting, grant calendars etc.

As appropriate, initiate, develop and sustain important relationships in grant making community.
Qualifications:

Minimum of 5+ years experience in foundation fund raising, preferably with a social service organization.

A minimum of a BA degree required.

Strategic, creative, strong writer; technical expertise including a working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge; familiarity tracking trends and developments in philanthropy; and proven effectiveness in securing government and foundation grants.
