The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is seeking a Senior Private Sector Fund-Raising Assistant for its Regional Representation in Washington, D.C.
TITLE: Senior Private Sector Fund-Raising Assistant
CATEGORY/GRADE: General Service (GL-5)
TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Fixed-term appointment until 31 December 2013 with possibility of renewal
DUTIES:
- Provide administration and day to day basic liaison with key external suppliers, such as the supplier of face to face recruitment of regular monthly donors
- Track PSFR regional reporting requirements and deadlines and assist in the compilation and completion of these reports and requests for information
- With the tools provided assist the PSFR Officer in compiling data for and tracking the financial performance of UNHCR’s fundraising activities in the region
- Provide clerical support as required for the regional PSFR function
- Draft various basic correspondence (external and internal) and components of reports, as required
- In close collaboration with National Associations and Branch Offices in the region, assist in preparing submissions for funding requests to donors, reporting to donors and ad-hoc queries from donors.
- Assist the Senior PSFR Officer in tracking donor follow up and reporting requirements and timetables
- Assist in arranging schedules, meetings for donor visits to UNHCR, and for PSFR donor missions to the field
- Undertake specific tasks required by the Service
- Other duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion of the Secondary Education with a degree or post-secondary certificate/training in business administration, marketing or fundraising;
- Minimum 5 years of previous relevant job experience
- Computer skills (MS Office applications – including Excel)
- Fluency in spoken and written English. Spanish is desirable
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including excellent writing skills
- Well organized, detail orientated and able to balance various activities on tight deadlines
- Understanding of internet marketing and marketing software helpful
- Knowledge of the United Nations and international assistance work, and specific knowledge of UNHCR programs and policies
- Shows sensitivity to the security of data and the confidentiality of donor information and internal UN communications
