Our nonprofit client, ChildFund International, has recently retained our executive search firm to assist in locating a Chief Development Officer to lead the organization’s global development and expand efforts around the world.
For almost 75 years ChildFund International has help deprived, excluded and vulnerable children have the capacity to improve their lives and the opportunity to become young adults, parents and leaders who bring lasting and positive change in their communities. ChildFund International assists approximately 13.5 million children and their family members in 31 countries worldwide. ChildFund International, who received nearly $250 million in private donations last year, is a founding member of ChildFund Alliance whose members partner to improve the lives of children and family members in more than 55 countries.
Reporting to the Executive Vice President (CAO), this individual will provide strategic direction, leadership and management to all private fundraising strategies designed to broaden domestic and international awareness and financial support. Leading the global fundraising and communications functions, the Chief Development Officer will (a) forge individual and private sector partnerships with major and corporate donors, (b) give direction to fundraising in a broad range of mass market channels to grow sponsorship, (c) bring innovation to social media fundraising, and (d) oversee all communications and public relations in building the brand presence. This position is part of a collaborative team that provides organizational oversight to insure effectiveness and growth. It is an opportunity to build upon a strong platform and take the organization to the next level of performance. Engaging donors to help the deprived and vulnerable is the heart of the work.
We seek a senior strategic executive with a minimum of 20 years’ experience including nonprofit development. He/She must have a substantial track record in building fundraising of major gifts, conducting sizeable capital campaigns, and contributing in mass appeal programs. The candidate must be seasoned in design and execution of a strategic plan in a complex environment with multiple offerings and multiple channels. Previous work in an international organization is a plus. The selected candidate will be a strong executive leader who shares the passion and conviction of the mission of ChildFund International.
