Bank Street College of Education invites applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Vice President for Information Technology.

This is an opportunity for an entrepreneurial IT professional to work closely with College leadership, faculty, and staff to develop and implement a strategic technology plan. As a key advisor to the President, the successful candidate is responsible for technology initiatives as they affect instruction, administration, and communication. The individual will serve as a spokesperson for the ways in which technology enhances the College’s ability to serve its mission. The position provides college-wide leadership for the technical operation and enhancement of the two educational divisions of the College: Children’s Programs and the Graduate School. The Assistant Vice President for IT co-reports to the president and COO, and serves on the president’s Cabinet.
Responsibilities include:

Ensure that both operational and strategic IT initiatives align with College Strategic Priorities.

Develop, implement, and maintain effective IT policies and practices.

Ensure the highest caliber of service delivery to faculty, students, and staff.

Provide vision and progressive leadership by assessing the feasibility of emerging technologies that provide a technology rich environment to meet the needs of Bank Street’s diverse student population.

Prepare reports and analysis for the Board of Trustees upon request.

Serve on College committees and task forces as needed.

Develop and manage an operating budget of $2.5 million and an annual capital budget.

Provide risk management of IT services and maintain a current disaster recovery plan for all major information technology systems.

Serve as a spokesperson and technology expert for the College to a range of external organizations.

Manage vendor relationships for systems and component acquisitions, end-user service-level agreements, and vendor service-level agreements.
Qualifications:
-
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent experience required. Strong preference for a related Master’s degree.

Ten years of management-level supervisory and leadership responsibilities in higher education.

Broad and deep knowledge of technology.

Ability to work collaboratively across an organization, building and developing collaborative relationships.

Experience working in a position that requires a high degree of customer service skills.

Excellent verbal/written communication, presentation and negotiation skills.

Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and supervise staff.
