The Garrison Institute, a non-profit, non-sectarian organization is seeking a Senior Communications and Development Consultant to work with our staff and board over a 6-12 month period to develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising and communications strategy resulting in an increase in fundraising results. The Consultant’s main responsibilities would focus on two key areas:
Development – working closely with other senior staff to refocus and improve the infrastructure needed to grow a $3.8 million budget through a number of fundraising mechanisms including developing deeper ties with existing donors and cultivating new donor opportunities for the Institute.
Communications - providing oversight and strengthening of a world-class communications plan whose goal is to advance the organization’s position relevant with constituents, as well as to drive broader awareness and donor support.
The consultant will be charged with various priorities over the period of engagement some of which will include: determining top priorities for the communications team for deliverables having the most impact and with the most potential for generating revenue; working with the business development team to increase individual participation in retreats as well as gain additional bookings of new retreats and new business; cultivating existing and new donors, seeking increased gifts and scholarships; planning various small fundraising events.
We are seeking candidates who have proven experience and leadership in managing and implementing development functions and comprehensive communications and marketing strategies, preferably for non-profit organizations. She/he should also have well established skills and comfort in proactively building relationships with top level donors and foundations as well as improving systems that lead to increased fundraising results.
This will be a consulting position with up to 24 hours per week and an office space is available for meetings on site.
