Phillips Collection - Engagement Officer
The Engagement Officer is a key position within the Development Team of The Phillips Collection. The Engagement Officer’s work goes beyond that of the traditional major gifts officer, seeking to establish meaningful, long-term, and sustainable relationships with individuals and institutions committed to advancing the global conversation about arts and culture --the mission of the Phillips Collection.
The Engagement Officer will develop and manage a portfolio of donors yielding $2-5 million annually.
As the Phillips is on an exciting trajectory with an endowment campaign, the Engagement Officer will play an active role in raising funds toward this campaign goal.
The position will report directly to the Director of Development.
Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

Maintaining a personal portfolio of approximately 120-150 donors and prospective donors yielding revenue in the range of $2-5 million in annual, program and campaign funds. (Portfolio may include a small number of institutional partners.)

Conducting penetrating prospect research in support of individual and institutional fundraising objectives by utilizing subscription, internet and other sources.

Placing special emphasis on prospecting, preparation of critical communications, proposals, and budgets, and developing plans with program staff.

Managing call time priorities for senior staff and ensuring donors are followed-up within a timely fashion.

Managing production of quality donor materials that are rooted in and promoting the level of excellence for which the Phillips is known.

Maintaining contact database (Raiser’s Edge) to ensure accurate recordkeeping and long-term organizational knowledge.

Assisting in developing annual department budget.

Attending meetings and events on behalf of The Phillips Collection.

Supervising 1-2 staff.

Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree.

Minimum of eight years development experience.

A commitment to The Phillips Collection mission and values.

Strong communications skills.

Strong skills with the ability to oversee budgets, programs, and staff.

Strong computer skills, including experience with donor databases (Raiser’s Edge preferred), Microsoft Office suite.

Strong research skills, with experience using prospecting and research tools such as Foundation Center, LexisNexis.

Experience with special events and donor cultivation/stewardship.

Proficiency in writing and oral communication skills.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced work environment, take initiative, and meet high expectations.

Highly organized, productive, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize.
-
Comfort in speaking with high net worth individuals in various settings.

Ability to work evenings and travel (domestic and international).
