LOCATION: Flexible. This person could be in NYC, DC, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, etc. …anywhere one could get to NYC in a few hours time.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

In this exciting and highly visible new role, you will collaborate with regional teams to create, implement and sustain a transparent and compliant programmatic, fiscal and audit infrastructure in federal, state and private grant funding. You will work in conjunction with a Managing Director to develop budgets, establish awards, and monitor sponsored program requirements while providing assurances that expenditures are properly tracked, documented and recorded in the general ledger. This includes establishing, developing and maintaining relationships between internal departments (Regional Development and Operations, Human Assets, Planning & Analysis and General Accounting) as well as external federal, state and private funding entities. You will also work directly with Planning & Analysis and Regional Operations to develop and oversee grant-related budgeting, while proactively establishing coding structures and cost tracking methodologies to ensure that direct, allo cated, and matched costs are necessary, reasonable, and consistently treated per contract provisions, GAAP, OMB Circulars, agency regulations and SOX best practices applicable to the non-profit sector. You will be the point of contact for all fiscal and audit inquiries and work closely with the regions and the Managing Director, as well as the Controller to help ensure compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field; (MA degree or CPA a plus) and 5+ years in grants management/sponsored programs, administration, financial analysis, and/or consulting with a grants portfolio of $20 million or greater. This experience should be coupled with demonstrated supervisory experience, team building, and organizational leadership success. Ability to foster collaborative management based on open, transparent, and inclusive decision-making is a must. Travel requirements would be 5% for someone based in NYC; 20-30% outside NYC (will need to travel to New York for team meetings).
