Working Hours: Monday–Friday 9:00AM-6:00PM;
*one late day required 11:00AM-8:00PM
Salary range: $40,000 - $44,000 p.a.
Description: AARS, Inc. is an innovative substance abuse prevention, treatment, and research agency serving the greater SF Bay Area. The Clinician is employed by AARS to deliver and coordinate services for its Problem Gambling Project targeting the Asian and Pacific Islander (Filipino and Vietnamese) communities in San Jose. The Problem Gambling Project consists of 2 components: 1) Counseling Services and 2) Community Outreach & Education. AARS is looking for a committed, client-centered Clinician who is passionate about recovery and harm reduction. The Clinician provides mental health treatment based on individualized assessment. Intensity of services is based on the client's stage of change and response to treatment. BBS supervision is available!
Responsibilities (other duties as assigned):

Work with a caseload of problem gamblers and their families, participating in culturally specific outpatient treatment, counseling, and case management services

Conduct comprehensive and ongoing assessment of client’s mental health needs

Work with clients to develop and complete individualized treatment plans

Facilitate process and psycho-educational groups; including community education and trainings
-
Offer/refer clients to supportive, holistic on-site services (e.g., acupuncture, meditation), or other services as appropriate

Provide informed and written status reports to probation/parole officers and courts
-
Be responsive and pro-active in all correspondences with referring parties, judges, probation and parole officers, and social workers, via treatment status reports, phone calls, faxes, etc.

Maintain timely and accurate confidential client charts, service rendered documents, and/or reports

Participate in all contract mandates set by the Problem Gambling Project Collaborative and funder

Engage with clients and participate in the planning and execution of community events

Provide services to client families.

Establish and maintain liaison with collaborative partners
-
Provide and follow up on referrals to community services, including advocating for clients and problem solving with community agencies
-
Provide and/or assist with arranging translation, transportation, and other practical support services
-
Employ motivational interviewing and assess effectiveness of theoretical orientation while exploring barriers to engagement
-
Remain respectful and open-minded to diverse individual and cultural perspectives and values
-
Participate in weekly clinical group supervision and individual supervision as needed
-
Attend agency retreats meetings, and trainings as assigned
Qualifications:

License-eligible with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences; LCSW or MFT preferred
-
Familiarity with theoretical orientations (e.g., motivational interviewing, client-directed outcomes, CBT, etc.)

Knowledge/familiarity with Problem Gambling issues

Understanding of immigrant Asian cultural issues and dynamics in diverse Asian communities
-
Knowledge of cultural stigmas of counseling and treatment services
-
Knowledge of principles and techniques of social work, case management, crisis intervention, client centered counseling, and group facilitation
-
Experience working with co-occurring disorders
-
Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule; some evenings required
-
Ability to utilize supervision and build on skills critical to the job functions
-
Ability to organize, schedule, and efficiently use time to complete all duties and responsibilities assigned
-
Bilingual/Bicultural in Vietnamese and/or Tagalog required.
